Receiving an Error When Syncing AD with Office365 Using the Directory Sync Configuration Tool?

When trying to sync AD with Office365 using the Directory Sync Configuration Tool, after entering the credentials for Microsoft Online Services Administrator and then the credentials for Active Directory Enterprise Administrator I receive the following error:

Error:

Access to the registry key

‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSOLCoExistence’ is denied.

Resolution:

Right click Directory Sync Configuration Tool and Run as Administrator
